Roberto Cavalli, the renowned Italian fashion designer celebrated for his flamboyant style, has passed away at the age of 83 at his home in Florence, following a prolonged illness that had recently worsened, as reported by the Italian news agency ANSA.

Cavalli’s illustrious career, which began in the 1970s, was distinguished by his iconic animal prints and vibrant colors. His designs captivated celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, and Taylor Swift. In 2010, he was notably photographed with Jennifer Lopez, who dazzled in one of his leopard-print dresses at the World Music Awards.

The designer’s brand, renowned for its luxury clothing, handbags, shoes, and perfumes, mourned his loss on Instagram, honoring Cavalli’s enduring influence and inspiration. “With great sadness, we bid our final farewell to our founder, Roberto Cavalli,” the post read.

Fausto Puglisi, the brand’s creative director since October 2020, expressed his deep sorrow and admiration, emphasizing Cavalli’s lasting impact on fashion. “Dear Roberto, though you are no longer with us in body, your spirit will always be felt,” Puglisi shared on social media. “Your legacy will continue to inspire, especially for me.”

Brazilian model Adriana Lima hailed Cavalli as a “legend,” while former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham described him as an “icon,” sharing a touching photo on her Instagram stories. Florence’s mayor, Dario Nardella, also honored Cavalli, recognizing his significant contributions to Italian fashion and his strong connection to the city.
