Mia Robertson, the youngest daughter of Duck Dynasty’s Jase and Missy Robertson, was born with a condition called cleft lip and palate, characterized by a gap in the upper lip that may extend to the gum.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately one in every 1,600 babies in the United States is born with cleft lip with cleft palate.
Now 18 years old, Mia has undergone 13 surgeries due to her condition, with the most recent being her 14th. Her family is hopeful that this will be her final procedure, resolving her issue for good.
Despite facing numerous surgeries, Mia maintains a positive attitude and hopes to inspire other children with similar conditions. In collaboration with her family, she established the Mia Moo Fund to ensure that every child facing such challenges can smile.
Missy Robertson explained to the Christian Post that the Mia Moo Fund serves to raise awareness about the cleft lip and palate journey and provide financial assistance to affected families across America.
Jase Robertson provided an update on Mia’s condition on his podcast, noting her successful recovery. He expressed gratitude for the prayers and support from listeners, describing Mia as a champion.
Before Mia’s recent surgery, Missy reflected on the uncertainty surrounding her daughter’s future procedures, emphasizing their reliance on faith. Mia herself expressed hope that her latest surgery marks the end of her medical journey.
Meanwhile, the Robertsons are welcoming a new addition to their family, providing a loving home for a child in need.
We wish Mia a speedy recovery and encourage readers to share her story to spread awareness and support.
