Keanu Reeves is one of the most beloved celebrities of his generation. There is perhaps no one who has met him who would speak an ill word of him. So, when the beloved actor revealed something unfortunate that happened to him, a lot of people were immediately concerned.
Recently, Keanu Reeves has been busy filming his latest project, Good Fortune. The actor appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this week and recounted a story that raised some concern among his fans.
The 59-year-old actor shared that he broke his kneecap while filming. Known for his action-packed filmography, including The Matrix and the John Wick series, Reeves revealed that he was brought down by something quite unexpected.
Colbert asked Reeves, “What happened? Who got to you?”
The actor replied playfully in a tough-guy voice, “No one got to me. Accident got to me.”
“Were you jumping from building to building? Doing a cartwheel past razor blades? What were you doing?” Stephen further probed.
“No, Stephen, I was walking into the dressing room. I’ll tell it quick,” Keanu explained.
He shared that the incident happened while filming a scene for the upcoming comedy Good Fortune, alongside Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen. The three of them were in a cold plunge, and Keanu was enjoying it. After they finished, he started doing the “cold shuffle” in a room with protective carpets. Unfortunately, his foot got caught in a pocket as he was doing so.
Keanu stood up to demonstrate what had happened by walking in front of Stephen’s desk, showing how his knee gave way. “And I spiked. Like, spiked,” he said, mimicking the motion. “Just drove it into the ground.”
“My patella, kneecap, cracked like a potato chip. But I didn’t know that. But then once my knee was blowing up,” Keanu went on.
“Comedy is hard, man,” Keanu joked.
“This was not an action film with Aziz and Rogen,” Stephen clarified once again.
“No, it was comedy,” Keanu confirmed.
“Welcome to my life,” Stephen joked.
Keanu had been spotted filming on crutches in January this year with an ice pack on his knee.
Good Fortune not only stars Aziz Ansari but also marks his directorial debut. Ansari wrote and co-produced the movie, which also stars Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer.
